VITA Site Operations Resources

CFPB Resources for Tax Preparers features consumer-facing materials and planning resources for VITA sites.

United Way Worldwide’s MyFreeTaxes Partner Portal — myfreetaxes.com (MFT) is a free self-preparation service sponsored by United Way Worldwide. The partner portal provides ways to promote MFT and sign up as a partner. It uses TaxSlayer FSA, and VITA sites can request TS FSA directly from the IRS and/or use MFT.

Code for America’s Get Your Refund (GYR) is a portal where taxpayers can upload tax information, such as W-2s, and have it prepared by IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers. VITA sites can partner with GYR to manage taxpayers’ documents through virtual, drop-off, or remote intake, helping support remote volunteering.

The Center for Budget and Policy Priorities’ Get It Back Campaign provides outreach materials for the EITC and other tax credits, including materials for assisting taxpayers with rideshare and other app-based self-employment.

United Way’s VITA Resource Page is a webpage curated by a VITA leader at one of the many United Way VITA sites and provides a wealth of resources.
