JC Craig — Background and Experience

Mr. Craig attend Earlham College and the Earlham School Religion where received a Master’s in Biblical Studies graduating with honors.  Early in his career he was a financial aid administrator, marketing manager and director of student activities. He was Director of Tax Services at Center for Economic Progress where he delivered free tax assistance throughout the state of Illinois and helped launch the National Community Tax Coalition. In the early 2000s, he began regularly delivering technical assistance to nonprofits interested in deliver free tax assistance, including VITA coalitions launching in New York City, Philadelphia, North Carolina and Delaware.

Both at Center for Economic Progress in Chicago and Community Tax Aid in Washington DC he successfully developed grant and in-kind fundraising. He also developed strategies for generating additional value from volunteers including placing higher value roles, developing individual giving, and engaging in advocacy. At Prosperity Now (Formerly CFED) in 2014, Mr. Craig launched the Taxpayer Opportunity Network as a successor to the National Community Tax Coalition. Mr. Craig has coordinated with multiple federal and state agencies developing public private partnerships, acting as a liaison and both a formal and informal advisor.
